Beating Angels Chapter 1 : The nightmare

A light wind brushes my face as I snuggle up in my sheets. I heard a slight squeaking sound coming from my half-opened window. My body is totally relaxed yet I feel deep inside me a ball of stress and fear constantly with me. I don't think I really sleep at night, I skim over my deepest thoughts without really knowing where to go. I feel a huge void in me as if something is missing. Deep down inside, I was right: I miss my big sister, I miss my old life, I miss my friends, and I lost everything. I still can't explain what is happening to me. I get lost in my thoughts more and more. There is always a saying "always go ahead", and although I can't do it I have been gnawing at the guilt for almost a year. Suddenly the worst day of my life resurfaces, in my darkest nightmares.

Flashback

Today was the last day of school and now it's vacation, for as long as I wait. I've had enough of class, it's so tiring and boring. As I leave the old building, I linger outside to contemplate nature, suddenly a gentle wind brushes my face and the sun warms my heart. I love this time of year: summer has always been my favorite season. When I get home, I put down my bag, and I collapse on the sofa, savoring the fact that I don’t have school for 2 months. Two hours later, Eliane, my big sister comes home from work, and when I greet her she decides to ignore me. She doesn't even bother to answer me and goes up to her room. But hey, what's wrong with her? I see her come down the stairs and position herself in front of me, her arms on her hips.

- "Eliane, can I find out what's going on with you and why you're ignoring me? "

- "I don't know, it's up to you to tell me. How many times have I told you not to touch my stuff?” She said quite firmly.

- "But what are you talking about?" I'm not here at all. ” I'm completely lost and stunned.

- "Where's the necklace Liam gave me?" You know how much I care about it, since I broke up, I wear it every day. I put it in my jewelry box while I went to work for fear of breaking it. I know you took it!” She's starting to get carried away, but I'm still confused. I would never have taken her necklace, I know she cares deeply about it. Since breaking up with Liam, she has been inconsolable. I would never have dared to steal the only item that matters to her.

- "But stop blaming me all the time, I didn't do anything, okay? And, it's not my fault you can't find your precious necklace anymore. I know it is important to you.” I say confidently. But she comes back, and accuses me again.

- "Oh please stop pretending to be innocent"

- "How many times I have to repeat it to you: I had nothing to do with the disappearance of your necklace"

With that, I ignore her and keep watching my show. Eliane snatches the remote from my hand and glares at me. No, but is she serious? She's accusing me of something I didn't do, but where the world is going.

- "Hey I'm talking to you, stop turning a deaf ear and listen to me!" I have things to tell you. " Her tone softens, but remains cold and dry.

- "I have nothing to tell you I told you the truth, now if you are not happy it's the same. So if you can give me the remote back. Thank you ! "

I tear off the remote control to continue my contemplation of my series.

- "Not before you tell me where you put my necklace," she said, pushing me, and interrupting me in my tracks. Anger takes over and I get up from the sofa.

- "What must I do to make you understand that I do not know where your jewelry is? "

We started to come to hands. She punched me in the stomach, then I hit back by hitting her too. I don't want to come to this, but she's going completely crazy. She was going to hit me one last blow, but I placed my hands in front of my face, and without knowing why: Eli is propelled by a force that I cannot explain. Her body smashes the window with such violence, and her body falls to the ground hitting some stones in the garden. I ran up the stairs so fast I almost fell. I finally arrived in the garden where Eliane fell. I see her lying on her back, making no movement, I am totally paralyzed. I walk over to my sister's body, and kneel beside her. She is still alive, I am in all my senses. She turns her bloody face towards me.

- " Why… ?” She said in a weak voice.

- "No, Eli stay with me…"I'm crying, I can't stop. " Mom, dad ! " My parents, under my screams of panic, run up to me and my sister and sink into infinite sadness. They are devastated.

- "I'm really sorry…" I said, addressing my parents. They turn to me, my mom doesn't react and my dad looks at me like I'm a murderer. This is who I am.

I am a monster.

End of flashback

Tomorrow will be a day that I will never forget, my parents will take me to a specialized institute for people with psychological disorders. Tomorrow will begin my new life, a life in endless hell.
